So, you've decided from early on that you're targeting that executive-level position in a company. You've gained the necessary qualifications, so you seem to be on track. Promotion after promotion, you've been steadily progressing for years until you didn't anymore. After years of experience and clawing your way to the top, you found yourself stuck at a level that you can't move past. You've been promoted steadily from associate to a senior position but not to an executive level. So, what's the deal? Why can't you move past that point? That's because you've reached the glass ceiling stage.

So how do you move to pass the glass ceiling? What if you reinvent the entire perspective, and it's the process of building a bridge instead?

This change activates the part in your mind where you're actively curating steps to connect you to a pathway to the position. So here are a few tips to keep in mind when developing the steps:

Understand the structure of your position

Start questioning how your industry works. Go deeper and discover how things get done and the people involved in getting things done. When you understand what drives the industry's core business activity, you can develop steps that align with a successful pathway to your goal.

Effectively Market your Professional Portfolio

Your professional portfolio is your overall professional presence, which embodies the following factors: Education Background, Mandatory Certifications, Resume Portfolio, Professional Network Score, Work Experience Reputation, and Leadership Success.

You have to effectively market each one of the listed factors in a way that will show your success to the people who have to choose you. It doesn't mean that you have to be a brown noser, but understand what factors they're looking for in a person for that position. What person do they need? Will they positively benefit the company? These are the questions you should ask yourself and if the role aligns with you.

The market strategy you use is key to being successful in the job search. It places you in the right hands at the right time.

Search in The Right Places

Now that you've marketed yourself and you're looking well polished, the next step is ensuring that you're searching in the right places. Now, you may be the best candidate for a position, and they still will not hire you for an unknown reason. It's unfair. It's time to move on and look in other places where they will cherish your skillset.

If you're looking for executive-level positions solely on company websites and LinkedIn job searches, you've limited yourself to only 25%.

These jobs are most likely not posted on LinkedIn or other job board sites. So, how do you find them? How do you find invisible positions in companies?

Invest your Time or Outsource it

You need to invest time and effort into developing and marketing the professional portfolio that's right for you. It is challenging to manage your time between your current workload and the workload associated with managing your professional portfolio. It's wise to link with recruiters who have your keen interest or a specialized service that caters to getting you hired for your intended role.

They complete tasks such as applying for an overabundance of tedious job applications, coordinating your schedule, sourcing background information for job interviews and meetups, strategically mapping out your network to connect with influential leads, managing your professional social media. It's your agent that keeps you on track to getting the promotion you deserve.
